Yoga+Music {notquite365} – Roomful of Smoke by Leslie and The Badgers — Recipe Edition!

It’s Tuesday and that means the Recipe Edition!

+++++

As you many of you know, I have not indulged in sugar, dairy, soy, gluten, vinegars, and stimulants for two weeks now. The only thing that I’m really missing is dairy. Not to worry though, my beloved dairy and I will be reunited mid February and I look forward to it.

So many people have been sending me recipes for me to try. Today’s came from my favorite TGBTS guest poster, Vanessa from The Beet Goes On. She found it on Bay Area Bites and thought it might be tasty.

Boy, is that an understatement.

My sweetheart thought this was delicious and he claims to hate dates. So don’t let the dates in it put you off. It honestly tastes like a milk shake – a sweet, creamy, almond-y, almost caramel milk shake.

  1. I was just going to try this (well, once I bought almond milk and dates) until I saw the ice cube part. Hmmm. I will consider how I can make it without ice cubes. (My immediate idea is ice cream, which sort of seems to defeat the purpose ;)

    • @elizabeth: not to worry – i made mine without ice cubes and it was delicious! i’ll wait for ice cubes for warm weather. another idea i had was to freeze the dates. i’m not sure if it would work, but it may be worth a try.

      ps – ice cream sounds divine!

  2. I made this shake last night. Omg good. I just made another one and added a spoon of almond butter with flax. Even better. This is so going to be my go to for the ENTIRE summer. It’s freakin’ freezin and foggy and I’m addicted. How good will this be when it’s 482 degrees out?!

  3. I stumbled on the website http://www.ohsheglows.com and there is a great smoothie recipe that I now make every morning! The website has tons of great vegan recipes. Try the Green Monster

    1 cup almond or soy milk
    1 banana
    1/2 cup blueberries
    1 Tbsp ground flax seed
    2.5 cups spinach
    Ice

    Blend first five ingredients and then add the ice and blend until smooth.
