Crazy good week here in summer break land. Spent all week in the Writing Leadership Institute and felt like it was such a great use of time. That is saying a lot – going to work during the first week of break.
Song notes:
1. I’ve been listening to a lot of Queen’s greatest hits lately. I’m sort of discovering them now through a different lens. These were radio songs growing up and they still rock.
2. One of my best friends is getting married today and I’ve got love and best friends on the brain.
3. Freddy is still my future-self rock star idol for those of you keeping tabs.

Previous Songs
We walked down the aisle to “My Father’s Favorite,” which is from Sense and Sensibility. (I’m an Austen and romance junkie.) We walked into the reception to James Taylor’s “How Sweet it Is” (Both our parents are JT junkies and we grew up with him.) Our first dance was to Jack Johnson’s “Better Together. (We took lessons and had a whole choreographed foxtrot–there’s video!). My mother/son dance was to “Baby Mine” sung by Alison Krauss; Eric’s was Natalie Merchant’s “Thank You.” Two favorite reception moments: Dancing with Eric’s almost 87 year old grandmother to “Billie Jean,” and the entire bunch rocking out Tina Turner’s version of “Proud Mary.”
We walked down the aisle to “Holding Up the Sky” by Buddy and Julie Miller. Our first dance was “I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl Like You” – Foreigner. But the climax of the whole night was our wedding supergroup tearing through Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.”
