Saturday Senses

A way to capture the spirit of each week…

{via}

tasting :: hot water, lemon and honey.

hearing ::  baby coughing.

smelling :: not much – too congested.

seeing :: our social worker for a post placement visit.

feeling ::  so much better today – thank goodness for hot baths, long naps and cold medicine!

wishing/hoping :: we all continue to get better and avoid any other viruses.

What about you?

What are your senses this Saturday?

Looking back, how was your week?

Leave a comment and tell me all about it. I’d seriously love to hear about your week. Now’s not the time to be shy.

  1. tasting: fried chicken and waffles. pork belly sandwich with chili mayo. homemade chocolate-covered caramels. papardelle pasta with porcini and cream. hand-pulled chinese noodles. eight tacos, each with a different filling. chewy ramen in rich pork-chicken broth. wood-fired pizza with guanciale and arugula. roasted butternut squash with balsamic onions. pickled cauliflower. pickled shiitakes. pickled mushrooms. apple cake with vanilla ice cream. ricotta doughnuts. kouign amann. prune and armagnac gelato. god, i love portland.

    hearing: my niece leila become more and more articulate every day. she’s hilarious. and well into genius territory.

    smelling: peppermint tea. it aids in digestion, and god knows i can use all the help i can get.

    seeing: more homemade, handcrafted goods than i can shake a stick at crafty wonderland (http://craftywonderland.com/). i’m so inspired to see local artists and craftspeople sell their goods to people who really appreciate what they are getting. i made off with a couple of small trinkets: a ring made of felt, a datebook with drawings by the artist throughout, some recycled crayons that were melted down and then poured into animal-shaped molds. so much creativity, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and whimsy.

    feeling: the cold. it is literally freezing here. but it’s bone dry, so no snow. just so very cold.

    wishing/hoping: my digestive tract can keep up. i still have 2+ days of eating to do! and that my sick loved ones feel better soon!
