Saturday Senses

Saturday Senses is a way to capture the spirit of each week.

tasting ::  lager and ginger ale. I was introduced to this refreshing delight on the 4th of July by my friend Eric. He claims it is all the rage in Germany. Who am I to not believe him?

hearing ::  the Words with Friends alarm on my new iPod Touch. O.M.G. – this machine is amazing! Who knew this game was so addictive? I hope I get better at it with all this practice!

smelling ::  lavender laundry soap. Finally had to wash all my clothes to get ready to pack.

seeing ::   My favorite British family in a matter of days!

feeling ::  Relief! Our housesitters came through at the last-minute {and I didn’t lose my marbles worrying about it} and the dude is able to travel {no kidney stones for now}!

wishing ::  You all a lovely rest of July. I’ll be taking a blog break whilst in Europe. Please feel free to check out the archives while I am away, make comments and rate each post with my fancy new 5 star rating system.

What are your senses this Saturday?  Looking back, how was your week?

Leave me a comment to tell me made your week memorable.

  1. tasting: sweet cantaloupe cut in to big wedges, eaten with my fingers.

hearing: the whirr of the big fan, all day and all night when it’s summer in new york city.

smell: fresh mint, parsley, and oregano that i bought to make melanzane sott’olio.

seeing: stinky the cat flopped on the floor in front of me. she’s so um, vast, that she could double for a bearskin rug.

feeling: like the last six weeks went by in a crazy flash.

    wishing: for clarity.

    • @v3:
tasting: change that to watermelon and i’m totally with you. (allergic to cantaloupe)
hearing: aircon + fan = only way to make sacto summers bearable
smelling: mmmmmmmmmm can i come over for dinner?
      seeing: awww, stinky is fatty.
feeling: that is what happens when you eat so much gelato!
      wishing: dude, aren’t we all?

ps – thanks for playing along. looking forward to seeing you soon!

  2. Tasting: Stumptown’s half rack of ribs (their BBQ sauce is excellent and their ribs are succelent!), fries w/ malt vinegar; lemonade and San Pellegrino.

Hearing: Birds singing in the forest at Armstrong Woods; my daughter crying because she didn’t want to walk anymore; the sound of Melody chucking rocks into the Russian River.

Smelling: the bark and earth in Armstrong Woods.

Seeing: Canoers and kayakers (are those words?) making their way back to their stopping place; 1,300-year-old Redwoods; the box that contains my new, unassembled coffee table!

Feeling: Incredibly satisfied from a full day well spent with my husband and daughter.

Wishing: For more of the same for tomorrow (but will go a little lighter on the food fare!).
