Ten Things I Loved In September

My friend, Rosie Molinary, made a list and I loved hers so much I stole her idea. Now I’ve been inspired to pause and notice the good stuff each month.

Ten Things I Loved In September

Things I/We Did

1.      Old 97’s Too Far To Care Tour

My favorite band playing my favorite album start to finish in one of my favorite cities in the world? YES, please!

Seriously, one of the best shows of my life.

Imagine orange cowboy boots, Maker’s Mark up, and very, very loud singing along. Oh and the in-between-song hopping up and down in anticipation of the NEXT.FAVORITE.SONG!

Old97s know how to take care of their fans. For years, my girlfriends have talked about how “wouldn’t it be great if the 97s played TFTC at a show? Like, the whole thing?”

True story.

Dreams do come true.

-Thanks to fellow superfan/photographer, Lori Hillhouse of I’ll Show You My Four Leaf Clover, for the photo.

2.      I started teaching a WEEKLY restorative class at It’s All Yoga – Tuesdays, 7:15-8:30.

You should come. It’ll be fun.

Seriously, even if you aren’t in Sacramento or haven’t ever tried restorative yoga, you can do this pose (Viparita Karani or Legs-Up-The-Wall) for ten minutes and you will feel so much better than you do right now.

Check here for potential health considerations.

3.     I went to the movies! In the theater! Again! This time with a friend!

4.    We went to a swimming pool party at our friends new house. So happy to have even more friends close by.

5.     I taught a class for Sacramento Free Day of YogaSo awesome to meet so many new people. Labor Day Monday – get it on your calendar now for next year.

On The Plate

6.     Fat Face strawberry coconut popsicle.

7.    Sweet potato black bean stew.

September, in a nutshell – too hot not to eat frozen treats, but the calendar says fall and so we eat fall food.

Products (and Services) I Love

8.      Evernote. It is changing my life by letting me organized in one place.

9.      Pinterest. Meal planning just got ridiculously easy by dropping pins in my Evernote file.

10.     Emailing with my doctor. So efficient!

So what are you loving lately? I’m always on the lookout for what is delicious in food, drink, fashion, and life. Leave me your favorites in the comments or write a post of your own and link back here.

Song notes:

1. Last week I posted my Fantasy Setlist for the Old 97’s show at Harlow’s and then tweeted it to Rhett. He, being the nicest guy in rock, said he’d use it.

2. My list didn’t have any songs from Grand Theatre Volume 2 because I hadn’t gotten it yet {been an insanely weird month – not to worry, I picked on up at the show}.

It is AWESOME!

3. This is now my theme song. I’m a Trainwreck.

Fantasy Set List: Old 97’s at Harlow’s, August 14th

Much to my surprise, my favorite band, Old 97’s,  is returning to Sacramento this weekend {the second time this summer and second time EVER}. I am ridiculously excited because with the Rubes coming soon, I’m not sure how many shows I’ll be going to in the near future. That being said, Sunday night I plan to rock.

Making a set list every night must be torture when you have so many good songs to choose from, so if I were in charge of the set list this is what it would look like.

The 97’s are coming! The 97’s are coming!

In case you missed it, my favorite band since forever (ok, except Duran Duran and Quasi) are coming to Sacramento. On a Saturday night. When I’m in town. I don’t think they’ve ever played Sacramento proper.

I may hyperventilate.

1. I heard Every Night Is Friday Night at Justin Herman Plaza last summer and l.o.v.e.d. it from the start. I learned in the Forum the other day that it started out slower until someone suggested they try it like the Clash. Brilliant.

2. I made a 39 song Greatest Hits According to The Tams {me} for some friends the other day. Yes, 39. And yes, it was like choosing your favorite kid. I felt awful leaving some out. And yes, these two made the cut.

3. Timebomb is one of my absolute favorites, however it is met with bittersweetness knowing it is closing the show.

If you haven’t already gotten your tickets for tomorrow’s show, go do it now. The Old 97’s put on the best show you’ll ever go to. Plus then you can hear me singing along with every song.

PS – I still want to win this Meet and Greet with the band. Take me with you if you win?
